Effectiveness of Community-Based Soil and Water Conservation in Improving Soil Property in Damota Area, Southern Ethiopia

چکیده
Soil and water conservation (SWC) is being advocated as an integral part of agricultural land management it not only controls/minimizes soil erosion but also restores/rehabilitates the degraded lands. The purpose this study was to evaluate impact practices in improving fertility landscapes Damota area, southern Ethiopia. Forty-eight samples (both disturbed core samples) were collected from conserved adjacent nonconserved plots. significance analysis test performed using variance. result showed that higher mean values physicochemical properties observed plot than its counterpart. differences organic carbon, total nitrogen, cation exchange capacity, exchangeable K+ Ca2+ between plots statistically significant at P < 0.01 level. Besides, available phosphorous bulk density id="M2"> 0.05 , effect SWC found on texture, pH, Na+ Mg2+ content area. Community-based have improved landscapes, although results been some indicators. Therefore, strengthening implementation measures by participating all stakeholders recommended. Supporting physical structures agronomic vegetative continued maintenance can bring better results.

متن کاملCharacterization of the Spatial Distribution of Soil Properties in Water Conservation Area 2a, Everglades, Florida
Wetland soils are heterogenous in nature, and biogeochemical properties show different spatial autocorrelation structures that translate into fineand coarse-scale spatial patterns. Understanding these patterns and how they relate to other ecosystem properties (e.g., vegetation) is critical to restore wetlands impacted by nutrient influx. Our goal was to investigate Water Conservation Area 2A, a...
